Overview
SITA is the world’s leading service provider of IT business solutions and communications services to the air transport industry. SITA manages complex communication solutions for its air transport, government and Global Distribution Customers (GDS) customers over the world’s most extensive communication network, complemented by consultancy in the design, deployment and integration of communication services. Its extensive range of airline and airport applications and services includes airport operations and integrated baggage services, common-use and desktop services, flight operations and air-to-ground communications and end-to-end airline distribution and fares services. SITA covers 220 countries and territories and the head office is in Geneva, Switzerland. SITA had aggregated revenues of US$ 1.554 billion in 2005 (€1.295 billion).
Goals and Challenges
SITA sought a service fulfillment platform to manage and configure their Internet based customer solutions. Without an end-to-end platform in place, SITA were facing high levels of customization for each customer deal causing costs to increase and lead times to extend beyond acceptable levels. The implemented platform also needed to integrate with their existing CRM and fault management systems.
The Solution
SITA are deploying Axiom Systems’ AXIOSS platform to manage and configure its portfolio of integrated network solutions for its global air transport industry customer base.
- Phase 1 – Implementation of AXIOSS Business broadband services.
- Order to Service’ which monitors and controls the service provisioning process allowing users to execute, track and automate order lifecycle
- ‘Inventory’ which is used to manage the physical and logical resources, and maintains synchronization with the network
- ‘Service Activation’ which provides the communications layer for interfaces to other network solutions.
- Phase 2 – Implementation of Active Catalog, a service design and process orchestration platform that allows products and services to be quickly created and rolled out, from robust, reusable building blocks.
